19 gets consolidated, there will be more participation? “We entered a very complicated scene, with many championships of similar level and with the same goals. Some that already existed had been forced to stop, while others split the market. Our goal was to launch the championship this year and we achieved it. There is indeed some confusion at this moment, but we are the only series of this level with an official FIA title, so I am sure that once the rankings are established, most of the teams will converge towards our series”. What do you think of the car? While it took over a huge legacy with F3, it adopted a very different philosophy. "The Tatuus T-318 already had a season behind it, so it was perfect from the start. However, it is difficult to make a comparison with the old F3 cars. This is a different philosophy, even in terms of safety. The current machines are heavier due to the new safety standards: the addition of the halo and the materials meant to make the car safer is tangible, but such aspects represent a significant leap in quality. As for the engines, it was normal to switch to turbo ones, because this is the path taken by the higher categories. In terms of performance, the Formula Regional fits well between F4 and F3, a more performing car would have made no sense because it would have accentuated the gap with F4. Furthermore, the old F3 completely disappeared, splitting in two between Formula Regional and GP3". The first Formula 4 hybrid car with the halo will debut in the FIA Motorsport Games at the end of the year. Will these solutions be adopted soon in the Italian championship too? "The homologation of the current machinery has expired this year, after six seasons. We already received a waiver for 2020, but the intention of the FIA seems to be to extend it until 2024. At the same time, however, the international federation is also pushing to have a new machine equipped with the halo system. In the coming months, we will talk with ACI to decide when we will switch to a new car." Fraga e Fittipaldi Igor Fraga Frederik Vesti
