32 Breakthrough The 2020 Toyota Racing Series will feature a new Tatuus car providing more performance and safety, the FT-60. The appeal of the championship is growing internationally with the creation of a bridge with America by Jacopo Rubino The 2020 edition will mark the start of the third technical cycle of the Toyota Racing Series, which is also the third using Tatuus machinery. The new FT-60, designed by the Italian com- pany, is following in the footsteps of the FT-40 and FT-50 models. Thanks to favorable climate and excellent organization, the New Zealand-based championship has become a global ben- chmark for young drivers aiming to gain experience during the winter. Some of them, procee- ded all the way up to Formula 1 like Daniil Kvyat, Lance Stroll and Lando Norris. With the introduction of the FT-60 car, the Toyota Racing Series is ready to strengthen its vocation even further. The step forward compared to the previous FT-50, which was already appreciated in the paddock, is remarkable. The new car is based on the regional F3 chassis, now used on a large scale in F3 Asia, Formula Regional Europe, Formula Renault Eurocup and W Series. The FT-60 introduces the Halo system to protect the cockpit and meets all the latest crash-test standards. It also generates 25 percent more aero downforce compared to the model it replaces. In addition to the 270 horsepowered delivered by the new 2.0 turbo engine, it will allow you to beat the lap records of all the circuits included in the calendar.
