24 FORMULA 4 Hauger scores 12 wins to highlight sensational season The 2019 season confirmed the prominency of the Italian Championship among the international Formula 4 panorama. The series emerged as the one with the highest car counts (an average of 31 cars took the start) and the highest quality, also confirming the Tatuus machinery as a leader in international competition in terms of performance and reliability. After an early stint on top by Brazilian Ferrari Academy driver Gianluca Petecof and Prema Powerteam, Dennis Hauger, a Dutchman campaigned by Van Amersfoort and coming from the Red Bull program, overturned the situation, posting 12 wins in 21 races to mathematically clinch the title in the penultimate round of the year at Mugello. Behind them, several rookies left a strong impression despite their low experience, consistently battling for the podium. Their names, Paul Aron (Prema, a Mercedes junior driver), Roman Stanek (US Racing), Joshua Durksen (Mucke) and Jonny Edgar (Jenzer, Red Bull). In the final part of the championship, Aron was even able to close into Petecof, fighting for second place in the championship until the Monza finale. Several Italian rookies stood out too, such as Nicola Marinangeli (Bhaitech), Andrea Rosso (Antonelli), Lorenzo Ferrari (Antonelli) and Francesco Simonazzi (Cram). 2020 should be the final season of the current car platform, which has come to the end of its lifespan, before the introduction of a new ruleset published by the FIA and which will bring the Halo protection system.
