Her major 2018 challengers will have the chance to find their revenge. Beitske Visser, Alice Powell, Marta Garcia and Emma Kimilainen, all capable of winning races, will be the major contenders, but the returning field also features Fabienne Wohlwend, Miki Koyama, Sarah Moore, Vicky Piria, Tasmin Pepper, Jessica Hawkins and Sabré Cook. A selection that took place on the Almeria circuit last September opened the doors to 6 new competitors: Belen Garcia, Nerea Martì and Irina Sidorkova, a trio coming from Spanish F4, together with Ayla Agren, Abbie Eaton and Bruna Tomaselli. Two seats, out of the 20 planned, are awaiting assignment. The calendar will still support DTM, bringing guaranteed visibility, but there is no shortage of new features. The series will start on May 30 from Igora Drive, a brand-new Russian racetrack built outside St. Petersburg, and will then continue to the historic Swedish track of Anderstorp, on June 13th. Two weeks later, Monza will host the Italian round, followed by the Norisring street course (July 11th), Brands Hatch (23 August) and Assen (5 September), returning from the 2019 championship. Having obtained the recognition of the FIA, the W Series will award Superlicense points for Formula 1, on par with the other major developmental categories.
