16 Italian F4 Championship Italian triumph The Italian Championship saw an Italian driver crowned for the first time as Minì gets the nod on Pizzi at the end of a spectacular battle T The Italian Formula 4 Championship once again proved its status as a series of the highest level in 2020. It also confirmed itself as the benchmark for all the drivers who intend to jump from karting to single‐seaters. The championship was not exempt from the crisis triggered by Covid‐19, but it reacted unexpectedly and sensationally, moving from the 22‐car grid of the opening race of the season at Misano to the 33 cars that entered the final round at Vallelunga, recording a stunning 38‐car field in pre‐race testing at Imola. These numbers are particularly impressive in a difficult season like 2020 and keep underlining the validity of the overall project and the all‐Italian technical package (Tatuus‐Autotecnica‐Pirelli), now abundantly tested having reached its seventh season. Speaking of Italian excellences, for the first time it was an Italian national who actually won the title, Gabriele Minì, who defeated Francesco Pizzi at the end of a season‐long challenge. Pizzi ended up as a vice‐champion after winning the UAE series in winter. Gabriele Minì by Mattia Tremolada
