20 by Mattia Tremolada T he final season of the Formula Renault Eurocup championship before the unification with the Formula Regional European Championship (with the birth of the Formula Regional European by Alpine) traditionally provided a great show and a lot of quality, with drivers and teams of the highest level facing off over ten rounds. The initial number of races was maintained and were run in nine of the most prestigious European circuits, with the confirmation of a supporting event to Formula 1. Having missed the chance to race in Monaco, Eurocup went on‐track for the second time this season Imola, as the only series to support F1 at the Italian venue. ART Grand Prix was the big winner of the season winning both titles at its debut in the series, which go alongside the entries in Formula 2, Formula 3 and DTM. The French chose an experienced driver, Victor Martins and a rookie with high hopes, Paul Aron, in addition to Swissman Gregoire Saucy. Martins had already finished in second place last season, where he had to surrender title at the final race to Oscar Piastri despite scoring 6 wins and 9 pole positions. The Australian took his place in the Renault Academy, while Martins' contract was suspended. He did not give up though, and together with the ART team, he was almost unstoppable in the middle part of the championship, securing 7 wins and 10 poles. In his third year in the series, he had no choice but to win the title to relaunch his career, and he did not fail.
