26 Intervista/Teo Martin “We will joining Spanish F4 with four Tatuus cars” After entering the Euroformula and GT Open championships in recent years, Teo Martin will enter the Spanish Formula 4 Championship in an effort to create a ladder for young drivers You decided to bring back your team in single seaters. Can you explain why, and for what reasons you choose the Spanish F4? "It is very important for us to work with young & talented drivers and I really love single‐seaters. I think this could be one of the best F4 championships in the near future. 2020 has been a very difficult year and even taking this into account, they had a grid of up to 21 cars. Next year we enter with 4 cars alongside Campos Racing and other international teams so maybe 28‐30 cars is not a crazy thing and I think it’s the right number to have amazing races" What's the first impression about the Tatuus chassis? "Tatuus chassis is amazing, a good option related cost‐quality ratio and the service was fantastic. I've been following the championships very closely since last year and it’s the ideal car. We wanted to enter in 2020 but It was assumed that the cars would have Halo by 2021 and that is why we decided to delay our entry for a year. However, by postponing this change to later, we decided to take the leap and buy the new cars to start this project in 2021". Do you think to extend your commitment to other F4 championship in the future, as the Italian one? "It is too early to talk about that since we will have to see how 2021 goes but our goal is to grow in single seaters. What we can confirm is that one of the three places we have reserved for the McLaren Shootout in 2021 will be for a driver of the F4 program, so for me is fantastic that we can also give one of the young talents in single‐seaters the opportunity to carve out a career as a professional driver within a great family like McLaren". Can F4 be a proving ground also for stepping directly in GT races, where you're already competing with high success? "I think it's very interesting, of course. As you well know, entering in Formula 1 is very complicated and I think there’s “life” outside F1 in other big championships that can help drivers to become factory drivers. Our project alongside McLaren gives us the option to work with the young drivers in F4 so then they can take the leap to GT4 and finally big challenges in GT3. Our target is always the same: to help talented drivers to achieve their dream of becoming professionals, as we did with Beitske Visser or recently with Fran Rueda". What's your target for the 2021 Spanish F4 season? "Our goal is always the same: win. We have a lot of passion and we don’t skimp to have the best equipment and to offer the best tools to our drivers because we do what we have to do to be on the top".
