27 Entering in style Let’s get a closer look at Teo Martin Motorsport. The Spanish squad, a proven winner in GT competition, decided to get back to single‐ seaters after a one‐year break by purchasing five brand‐new Tatuus T‐ 014 chassis from the Italian factory. The destination of choice will be the Spanish Formula 4 Championship. The cars were delivered at the end of October for an intense preparation ahead of testing, scheduled for December at Montmelò, Motorland Aragon and Valencia. "We want to enter four drivers, and the fifth car will be a spare", says team manager Pier Paolo Rodarte. Nothing is left to chance at Teo Martin’s: "New cars, new equipment, we want the utmost quality and reliability to show that this is a capital project for us. Winning at debut will not be easy. First of all, we will challenge an already‐established team as MP Motorsport, but we are working towards that." The commitment for Teo Martin in Formula 4 is part of a wider project, which was defined as a long term one by Rodarte himself. Creating a real automotive academy, the Motor & Sport Institute, based in Alcorcón, not far from Madrid. The 12000‐square foot headquarters feature state‐of‐the‐art facilities that would fit well in Formula 1. “Drivers can train with our simulator or even physically, it is a real young driver program” which quickly received interest. "We already had contacts with young drivers from Spain and Latin America, as the are are helped by the common language. But we actually talked to drivers from all over the world. " The Motor & Sport Institute is an all‐around academy, a multi‐ discipline centre to train a new generation of mechanics and engineers. Coming from Mexico, Pier Paolo himself studied here after a short driving career. “Formula 4 is an excellent series to start this type of career. The environment is favourable, and the Tatuus car teaches the basics. Our ambition is to gain recognition as an institution in this field, we are honoured when we have students hired by other teams, but obviously, we try to keep talents and skills for ourselves too."
