12 Italian F4 Championship A packed house The Italian F4 series recorded a 37‐car grid for the first round of 2021 at Paul Ricard, in another successful milestone for the Tatuus‐Autotecnica Motori package T he 2021 Italian Formula 4 season started in the best possible way with 37 cars lining up for the first round of Le Castellet. The series experienced significant growth, especially in comparison with the 21 drivers entered in the inaugural race of 2020, the first after the dirsruptions due to the Covid‐19 pandemic. The Italian series continued to set a benchmark among the national F4 championships and provides a high‐quality competitive level. The strong foundation of the series consists of the Tatuus‐Autotecnica‐Pirelli technical package, which has been in use since the inaugural season in 2014 but is still highly praised by drivers and teams. If 2020 was all about rookies, the 2021 season started with the most experienced drivers making the difference. Tramnitz shows pace in France Bearman on the move at Misano Tim Tramnitz came out of the Le Castellet weekend as the leader, returning with US Racing after his win in the last round of the 2020 ADAC F4 series in Oschersleben. However, the German is planning to run only selected rounds in the Italian series, prioritizing the German one. He thus did not line up at the start of the second round of Misano, throwing away the 28 points advantage he had in the standings to Kirill Smal, the Russian winning the first race of the season.
