32 Payne shines as best young drivers Matthew Payne was the most prominent young driver: in the second and third weekends of the series, featuring the most interesting prospects of New Zealand in an academy project, Payne scored five out of six wins, and won the 2021 title with 287 total points. Kaleb Ngatoa finished as runner‐up with 229 points and stood on the podium three times, while Billy Frazer, who triumphed in race 2 at Manfeild, home of the final round, was third. Team spirit This time, there was no team classification: in the context of the pandemic, the teams involved, M2 Competition, Giles, Kiwi Motorsport and Mtec joined forces working on behalf of the promoter, with complete data and telemetry sharing among all registered drivers. Working towards 2022 Hoping that the pandemic will be defeated as soon as possible, the goal for the Toyota Racing Series is to get back to full swing in 2022, combining drivers from New Zealand and other nations on the grid.
