36 USF2000 An open challenge With three rounds to go, including two tripleheaders, the 2021 USF2000 championship has not found a clear favourite, although Brazilian Kiko Porto and American Yuven Sundaramoorthy have so far been impressive and are 1‐2 in the points standings by Marco Cortesi C oming from a tough 2020 season, Brazilian Kiko Porto is leading the Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship as the series made past its halfway point at Road America. Lining up for the first time with the Tatuus USF‐17 machinery in 2020, Porto had lost the opening part of the season due to travel restrictions, only to contract Covid‐19 later in the year. As a consequence, he lost a lot of potential mileage. For 2021, for the 17‐year‐old the plan was to compensate for that bad luck and lined‐up with DeForce Racing. In the two opening rounds of the year, he came out with only one podium, a second place at Saint Petersburg, but then managed to take victory in the Indy Road tripleheader. Then, a fourth place on the Lucas Oil Raceway oval event led to a positive showing in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin, with another win in race 1 and a fifth place in race 2, enough to leapfrog former leader Yuven Sundaramoorthy atop the points table. Yuven Sundaramoorthy (#22) Myles Rowe (#99)
