18 Italian F4 Championship Bearman runs strong The British racer dominated the 2021 Italian Formula 4 season and left little to his competitors C iting his 11 wins out of 21 races perfectly sums up how successful the 2021 Italian F4 season was for Oliver Bearman. After a troubled start in Le Castellet, the British racer took his first win in race 2 at Misano, and from that point on, he just never stopped. Well, there was one setback, when at the end of the Imola weekend, one component of his Van Amersfoort Racing‐prepared engine was found to be not compliant with the rules. Bearman was penalized 10 championship points. In addition to that, he also lost 25 points. More than that, the incident cast a shadow on what had been a sensational, outstanding season. Bearman quickly rebounded by winning in the following round at Spielberg, but otherwise, he struggled at Mugello, which reignited speculations by his contenders. However, Bearman provided a splendid answer at Monza, with the Chelmsford‐ born driver putting up an amazing performance. Whereas the three races were complicated by the constantly‐evolving weather conditions, which conditioned many of the main challengers, Bearman made his way up from the back, securing three scintillating wins. That was a true highlight for him, showcasing a talent level that even the events of Imola could not hamper. by Mattia Tremolada
