24 Bearman makes history In the 2021 ADAC Formula 4 season, Oliver Bearman defeated TimTramnitz for the title, becoming the first driver ever to secure two major F4 titles in the same year W hile Oliver Bearman had a relatively easy path to the Italian F4 championship, the British Racer had a bold confrontation with Tim Tramnitz in the ADAC Formula 4 series. Taking advantage of the superiority shown by US Racing on some of the tracks like Sachsenring and Hockenheim, the German reduced his disadvantage in the second half of the year and stayed in the fight with Bearman right until the Nürburgring finale. The battle also led to two contacts in as many rounds, which enabled Tramnitz to become even closer. In the end, Bearman held the ground. By doing so, he became the first competitor to win both the Italian and Geman F4 titles in the same season. The same record was achieved by Van Amersfoort Racing, which won the team championship in both series and for Nikita Bedrin, who prevailed among rookies in both Italy and Germany. Bearman started on the right foot with five wins in the first seven races of the season, which enabled him to open up a hefty gap in points. Tramnitz secured his maiden win at Hockenheim and posted four more race victories, while Bearman couldn’t do better than four second places. In the opening race of the second event in Hockenheim, the Brit had crossed the finish line in P1 but was penalized due to contact with Tramnitz, who was promoted to the second position as his main rival dropped back. In the final round at Nürburgring, the two drivers made contact again, and Bearman had the worst of it, having to stop to replace his front wing. However, he delivered an outstanding recovery to fifth place.
