27 F4 Spanish Championship Van’t Hoff the dominator MP Motorsport secured the 2021 Spanish F4 title for the fifth time out of six years with Dutchman Dilano Van’t Hoff L ower budgets and spectacular races are the two pillars of the Spanish F4 Championship as demonstrated by the fact that all teams managed at least a podium finish this season. The series has been growing nicely in recent seasons. To avoid departing from these two key concepts, a constant dialogue between the teams and the promoter is required. The goal is to keep the balance and allow all drivers to showcase their talent regardless of the team they’re competing for. by Mattia Tremolada Spain speaks Dutch From the sports side, Spanish F4 continued its Dutch trend with MP Motorsport prevailing for the fifth time among teams. Dilano Van’t Hoff became the third Dutchman to secure the title after Richard Verschoor and Kas Haverkort. Only Franco Colapinto and Drivex managed to break the cycle in 2019 when the Argentinean took title driving for the Spanish squad. Van’t Hoff had a spectacular roll of honor with 13 pole positions, 10 wins, 16 podiums, and 6 fastest laps. He prevailed by 130 points over second‐placed Sebastian Øgaard, the closest contender. Right from the start at Spa‐Francorchamps, Van’t Hoff began with the right foot, impressing for the wide gaps he was able to put on his competitors in qualifying and for the comeback that he used to rebound from some troubled starts, which turned out to be his weak point. Van’t Hoff proved quick on all circuits, scoring at least a win in every championship round. He only had three results out of the top‐5 with a consistency level that made him virtually untouchable. Øgaard, Campos are the vice‐champions Not even the experienced Øgaard managed to outduel Van’t Hoff despite the double wins scored at Portimao and Valencia, added to the triumph in the Montmelò finale, where he was crowned vice‐ champion beating his team‐mate, Pepe Martí. The Spaniard proved equally impressive with Team Campos, making his debut in Formula 4 competition with seven wins and 17 podiums. That led to second place in the Team Classification behind MP Motorsport. Fourth and fifth place in the series was taken by the Formula de Campeones duo of Enric Bordás (two wins at Navarra) and rookie Dani Maciá, who barely missed his first career win on many occasions with six second places. Georg Kelstrup was fast in the Spa‐Francorchamps opener, scoring a win like happened to Filip Jenić, who got the nod for Teo Martin Motorsport one time at Montmelò. A look at 2022 The brand‐new Tatuus T‐421 chassis will make its debut in 2022, but the car already took the track after the Montmelò finale. The drivers were Dani Maciá and Maksim Arkhangelskii, ninth in points with two podiums. The Russian has already been confirmed by Drivex for 2022, like his fellow countryman Vladislav Ryabov (P8, three podiums), who will run with GRS. The two Russian will challenge Polish racer Tymoteusz Kucharczyk, who won the Richard Mille Young Talent Academy created in collaboration between the prestigious watchmaker and MP Motorsport.
