28 Interview/Alvaro Martinez de Tejada “Low budgets and balanced performance” With the Spanish F4 Championship coming out of his best season to date, we meet with promoter Alvaro Martinez de Tejada to draw a balance I n recent years, the Spanish Formula 4 Championship impressed for its constant growth, and 2021 was definitely the year of its christening at the international level. Featuring a high‐level calendar, several fast rookies, and two among the most prestigious teams, Campos (who runs in Formula 2 and Formula 3 as well) and Teo Martin, making their debut and being competitive right from the start. “For sure, this has been the best season of the championship since its inception," confirms Martinez. "The number of cars at the start increased compared to previous years, as so did the number of teams. Throughout the season, we welcomed 33 drivers at the start, with an average grid size of 25 cars in each event. For us, this is a great success, achieved through constant growth and consistency on a path we created in search of our identity". What is still to improve? "In the coming seasons, we will try to work and improve services and assistance during race weekends to make life even easier for teams and drivers.
