17 The recipe for success On the technical front, the basic package of the W Series is well established. It is still based on the trusted Tatuus T‐318 cars in Formula Regional trim, powered by the Autotecnica Motori powerplant of Alfa Romeo origins, and fitted with Hankook tires. The series also use centralized management. For logistical reasons, however, an unprecedented collaboration arose with the organizers of the Toyota Racing Series: the fleet of cars from the New Zealand championship, which employs the same chassis, was used in Barcelona. This was an almost unique occurrence in motorsport with the goal of keeping budgets under control and reducing the environmental impact of travel: as a consequence, intercontinental transportation was made by ship and not by air. Over the weekend in Spain, the different powerplant did not alter the outcome in any way, confirming the high‐ quality standards of all suppliers involved. The experiment will be replicated for the next race in Singapore. Four points‐finishing rookies Out of 18 spots available, five rookie drivers were selected through winter testing. Juju Noda, the youngest entrant at 16, Bianca Bustamante, Chloe Chambers, and Emely De Haus already managed to make it to the points zone while Czech Tereza Babickova will have the chance to do so in the second part of the season.
