13 Round 9 – Saturday 31 August, Bangsaen Street Circuit 1. D. Morán (Team Engstler, Hyundai i30 N); 2. L. Engstler (Team Engstler, Hyundai i30 N); 3. Gao H. Y. (Eurasia Motorsport, Hyundai i30 N) Round 10 – Sunday 1 September, Bangsaen Street Circuit 1. D. Morán (Team Engstler, Hyundai i30 N); 2. P. Oriola (Indigo Racing, Hyundai i30 N); 3. L. Engstler (Team Engstler, Hyundai i30 N) place to Morán. By lap 5, Engstler was putting pressure on Morán, then on lap 7, Kim made a mistake at T11, hit the tyre wall and bounced back; Daniel Miranda and Davee couldn’t avoid crashing into his car. The safety car was deployed again, but with the barriers needing to be repaired, the chequered flag was waved at the end of lap 9 at the completion of 75% of the distance, with Morán the winner from Engstler, Gao and Hertner. RACE 2 – MORÁN PUTS IN A GREAT DEFENSIVE DRIVE Morán delivered a masterpiece Race 2, as he took the lead from Gao on lap 3, set a stunning pace to build a gap while his pursuers battled behind him and finally resisted huge pressure from both Oriola and Engstler. At the start, pole-sitter Douglas Khoo led from Gao, Morán, Oriola and Engstler. After a few corners, however, the Malaysian driver was passed by the four Hyundai cars and then was given a drive-through for a jump start. Morán took the lead from Gao on lap 3 and pulled away, while the Eurasia Motorsport driver fiercely defended second position from Oriola and Engstler. He gave up on lap 6 and from that moment Oriola and Engstler closed the gap from Morán. At the end of lap 9, the first three cars were covered by 2.5 seconds, that became 1.2 on the following lap. During the final five laps, Oriola tried everything to pass Morán or push him to make a mistake; the same thing Engstler did to Oriola. But Morán put in a fantastic defensive drive and did not open even the slightest gap, eventually taking the chequered flag with a margin of four tenths over Oriola.
