39 24H TCE SERIES Motorsport Volkswagen Golf GTI (M. Holmgaard-J. Holmgaard-Edland- Shepherd-Carlsen) suffered from brake failure while heading into the final hour. The race marked the end of the 24H TCE Series’ European leg, while the Continents Series will be decided at the season-closing 24H COTA on 15-16-17 November at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas. The TOPCAR Sport by Bas Koeten Racing CUPRA DSG driven by Fabian Danz, Julien Apothéloz, Loris Prattes and Antti Buri secured its first win in this year’s 24H TCE Series. The Swiss team led the 24H Barcelona from the third hour onwards and Buri crossed the finishing line to complete 637 laps of the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, also grabbing an outstanding 11th position overall. The Baporo Motorsport CUPRA shared by José Manuel Sapag, Marcelo Rafael Ciarrocchi, Alexandr Artemyev and Alberto Vescovi finished in second place, though with a gap of 10 laps, securing a 1-2 finish on home turf for the Spanish brand. The podium was completed by the Autorama Motorsport Wolf-Power Racing Volkswagen Golf GTI of Marlon Menden, Ralf Henggeler, Jérôme Ogay, Benjamin Leuchter and Yannick Mettler. The result secured the 24H TCE Series Europe Teams’ Championship for the Swiss outfit, while Fabian Danz became the new 24H TCE Series Europe Drivers’ champion. The TTC Racing SEAT León (Schilliger- Reding-Suter-Spescha) collected an unexpected, though no less deserved, fourth position after the Holmgaard TOPCARSportwinstheBarcelona24hours Round 6 – Sunday 1 September, 24H Barcelona 1.
