24 SUPER TAIKYU The BRP team claimed its second victory of the season in the TCR class of the Super Taikyu series in the final round at Okayama and so clinched the title, the first for Audi since the class was created in 2017. Yuya Oota, Takeshi Matsumoto and Takuro Shinohara shared the winning car; after setting the fastest lap in Qualifying, they took the lead halfway through the three-hour race and never gave it up. Eventually Matsumoto crossed the finishing line with a margin of nearly 90 seconds ahead of the KCMG Honda of Matthew Howson, Paul Ip and Jim Ka To, while the Wimarama Kizuna Audi of Robert Hori, Katsumasa Chiyo, ‘Kizuna’ and Lee Jung Woo completed the podium. Matsumoto added this title to the one he had already won in the Saturday Series of TCR Japan’s inaugural season, while Shinohara made up for the disappointment of missing TCR Japan’s finale at Suzuka while he was leading VictoryandthetitleforBRP THE AUDI OF MATSUMOTO-SHINOHARA-OOTAWINS THE FINAL ROUND AT OKAYAMA
