8 WTCR RACE 3 - KRISTOFFERSSON PULLS OFF A GREAT OVERTAKE Kristoffersson claimed his second win of the season thanks to a masterpiece overtaking move on Monteiro. At the start, Monteiro was faster than Kristoffersson who was on pole, but the Swede took the inside line at T1 and moved ahead. Guerrieri followed in third position followed by Björk and Priaulx. At the back of the field guest driver Ritomo Miyata hit Tom Coronel’s car, they both spun and collected Ma Qing Hua. The safety car was deployed and after it exited the track Kristoffersson pulled away from Monteiro, Guerrieri and Björk. From lap 21, Ceccon began to recover positions; he passed Huff, Tarquini, Priaulx and Björk one after another, moving into fourth, while Guerrieri passed Monteiro for second. On lap 29, guest driver Ryuichiro Tomita went off and prompted the safety car back into action until the final lap; Monteiro began following it towards the pitlane entrance, then realized his mistake and swerved to the left to rejoin the track, but lost third position to Ceccon. However, after the race the Stewards imposed a ten- second penalty for the manoeuvre and so Monteiro dropped to 15th. Ceccon too was given a five-second penalty for clashing with Huff while passing him; this demoted the Italian to sixth and promoted Björk to third behind Kristoffersson and Guerrieri. The penultimate event of WTCR will be at Macau on November, 14th/17th.
