5 MicheliszandGuerrieri fighttothebitterend THE HUNGARIAN WAS CROWNED CHAMPION AS THE ARGENTINE WAS PUSHED OFF Norbert Michelisz was crowned the 2019 WTCR champion at the end of rainy Malaysian Sunday, with three back-to- back races that provided plenty of dramas and ended in the middle of the night. The Hungarian driver had staked a claim on the title with a superb performance in Friday’s Qualifying sessions, when he won pole positions for Races 1 and 3. And so, from the very start of the season finale, his pursuers Esteban Guerrieri and Yvan Muller found themselves in the need of fighting back. The Argentine qualified tenth and second, dropping 15 points behind Michelisz, while the Frenchman saw his gap going up to 21 points when he was relegated in 16th and 13th positions as the Lynk&Co cars struggled to clock competitive lap times.
