17 Can anyone beat Jan Magnussen in the battle for the TCR Denmark title? The former Formula 1 driver and his LM Racing CUPRA Leon Competición appear to be in a league of their own, as they have already won five of the six races held so far, setting the fastest lap in all of them in the process which was worth 12 extra points. Magnussen has now built a comfortable 54-point lead in the standings over Casper Elgaard, while the reigning champion Kasper H. Jensen and Michael Carlsen are lying third and fourth with gaps of 62 and 67 points respectively. Magnussen was undefeated in the season opener at Ring Djursland, where he completed a hat-trick of victories. In Race 1, he started from pole and led for the whole race from his teammate Nicolai Sylvest and Elgaard. He then elbowed his way to second from P6 on the reversed grid for Race 2, and eventually snatched the lead from Jensen on lap 5, heading for his second victory of the day, while Elgaard passed Mikael Markussen to secure the final spot on the podium. The third race was another lights-to-flag win for Magnussen who started from pole position on a grid determined by the points scored in the first two races. Jensen and Elgaard encored their results and finished second and third. Round 1 – Sunday 6 June, Ring Djursland 1. J. Magnussen (LM Racing, CUPRA Leon Competición); 2. N.
