TCR World and life

31 The TSR DSG Europe series kicked off with a couple of two-hour races at Monza and Misano. Brothers Jonathan, Kevin and Steven Giacon shared the wheel of the Tecnodom Sport Audi RS 3 LMS to win the opening round (right). Actually, it was another Audi, the HC Racing car of Simone Patrinicola and Gaetano Oliva, that crossed the finish line in first position with a margin of five tenths over the Tecnodom Sport car. However, the HC Racing pair were given a five-second time penalty for a track-limit infringement that dropped them to second. Samuele Piccin and Romy Dall’Antonia completed an Audi 1-2- 3 as they claimed the third spot on the podium for BF Motorsport. Gabriele Volpato and Alfredo De Matteo won in Misano in their Élite Motorsport-run Volkswagen Golf GTI (above). The race began with drama, as a puncture forced pole- sitter Jonathan Giacon into taking a pit stop that cost two laps. During the early stages, De Matteo fought for the lead with his teammate Marco Butti and Simone Patrinicola who retired at mid distance with a broken suspension. The second part of the race was enlivened by the recovery of the Tecnodom Audi that Jonathan Giacon handed to his brother Steven after a stint of more than one hour. Eventually, Steven Giacon finished second, less than 14 seconds behind Volpato. The Piccin and Dall’Antonia Audi completed the podium, once again.
