TCR World and life

9 The FIA WTCR always proves itself to be one of the most unpredictable series in motorsport. The first three events of the 2021 season delivered six different winners from as many races, and the classification is so tight that even those drivers who have failed to claim results that match their hopes still have every chance of rejoining the battle for the title. Münnich Motorsport’s Tiago Monteiro emerged as the winner in the first race of the season on the Nürburgring Nordschleife at the wheel of his Honda Civic (below), but since then he has dropped to eighth in the standings that are currently led by Jean-Karl Vernay who won the second race in Germany in an Engstler Motorsport-run Hyundai Elantra N (above). The defending champion Yann Ehrlacher has also started well. The young Frenchman led a dominant Lynk & Co 1-2-3 in Estoril’s Race 1 (left) ahead of his Cyan Racing teammates Yvan Muller and Santiago Urrutia, and he currently ranks second, eight points behind his countryman Vernay.
