In addition to the new 2014 car, the
opening round of the Clio Cup Italia
season also featured a new team and
two returning ones. Essecorse, Lema
Racing andOregon team joined the
pack at Imola although only the first
one was an actual rookie team.
Essecorse ismanaged by Stefano
Secci, who had previously lined-up as
a driver in several racing series. “This
season, I decided to face this new
adventure - explains Secci - and for us
it’s a very big challenge. We are new
andwe want to learn, so we focused
our efforts on just one car, driven by
an extremely strong driver like Simone
Iacone. We’ll evaluate our future goals
along the way. We definitely hope to
expand our operation with the addition
of new cars during the season”.
After having dominated the Eurocup
Mégane Trophy in the last few years,
the Oregon Team came back to the
Clio Cup Italia with one car for Lorenzo
Pegoraro. For the team, led by Jerry
Canevisio andGiorgio Testa, it’s a
brand-new challenge as they hope to
add a new trophy to their already rich
roll of honor. “The Clio Cup keeps us
busy - admits Canevisio - and I think
we’ll get some good satisfactions with
Lorenzo, who turned out to be a really
quick driver. The series is growing, and
with this new cars I’m sure there’s
plentymore exciting races to come”.
Lema Racing also needs no
introductions whatsoever. Their name
has been tied to the European Clio
racing scene for many years now. The
Slovenian-based squad fields two cars
for Ivan Pulic and Zeljko Cumurzic, and
with a team of this caliber, there can
be only one goal for the season:
victory. “My goal today is to log as
many kilometer as possible - says
Pulic - hoping to stay among the top-
3. The rest will come withmore good
results”.
