As the 2016 season comes to an end, we can
look back on what has been a successful year
for TCR. This year has seen the successful
launch of new regional and national
championships, including arguably
the strongest of them all in TCR
Germany, whilst there have
been announcements and
launches of exciting new
brand involvements.
The concept continues to
provide us with new
talent, with the next
generation of stars rising
through the ranks. In
Josh Files and Francisco
Mora, for example, TCR has
produced worthy champions of
Germany and Portugal, who are
surely destined for big things.
Next year, we already have numerous
highlights to look forward to. The addition of
Audi and KIA to the grid will raise the level
further, not least because they are arguably
two of the strongest additions to the TCR
stable since its inception.
With Audi, the excitement comes because of
its huge and respected history in delivering
successful motorsport projects. And who could
argue with the heritage that Audi has in
touring car racing?
That TCR ended up being successfully chosen
for the first foray of the ever-growing KIA
brand into Europe is testament to how TCR has
provided the right platform and scale at the
right time.
There is also the exciting prospect of TCR
developing in new and old regions for touring
cars. Having Scandinavia on board is
undoubtedly a major coup for TCR, and the
series could grow to rival Germany in terms of
its quality. The addition of a new regional
series in the Middle East is also an intriguing
one. Now we just need TCR to go on to crack
America…
