Without them there wouldn’t be any
racing. Simplistic, but true. They
represent the single most important
element in motorsports and, as far
F.Renault 2.0 ALPS is concerned, tyres
are synonymous with the Bardi family,
who have become a fixture in paddocks
all over the world. The tyres used in the
ALPS championship are supplied by
Michelin, with whom Bardi has a
longstanding relationship: “In my
opinion they produce some of the very
best tyres in the world”, explains
Donatello Bardi, who has spent nearly
thirty of his 41 years “in the field” and
who can boast a world championship
with Michelin in 2006, when his staff
were also involved with F.1 . “As far as
our involvement with the championship
promoted by Fast Lane is concerned,
we usually arrive at the circuit on the
Thursday in order to prepare our
equipment and be ready to deliver the
tyres on Friday, when the practice
sessions start”.
How many tyres do you use and how
many employees do you have?
“In the case of free practice each team
is limited to two sets of tyres per car.
They are allowed another two sets of
slicks, and two sets of wet weather
tyres for the qualifying sessions and the
actual races. If you bear in mind that
that there are thirty or more cars
involved in a meeting it’s fairly easy to
calculate the total number. There are six
of us, myself included. We are involved
in various different championships and
that means we work on a rotation basis.
Our strength lies in the fact that
everyone knows how to do everything”.
How is your relationship with Fast Lane
Promotion?
