Gené wins
TCR class
in the 24H
Nürburgring
For the first time, TCR cars
competed in a dedicated class
at the Nürburgring 24 Hours.
Although only three teams
entered the famous long
distance race, one of them
was able to achieve an
outstanding result.
The Mathilda Racing SEAT
León driven by Jordi Gené,
Georg Niederberger, Jürgen
Wohlfarth and Andreas
Guelden finished the race in a
brilliant 33rd position overall
out of the 156 starters.
The Spanish car completed
116 laps of the Nordschleife,
and was classified only 18
laps behind the winning
Mercedes-AMG GT3. And this
despite an incident that
occurred during the downpour
that caused the race to be
red-flagged for more than
three hours.
Hawkers sponsor
of the TCR Fan Award
Hawkers, the successful company that sold 1.6 million
pairs of sunglasses last year, has joined the TCR
International Series as the sponsor of the Fan Award.
Besides producing limited editions of sunglasses for
brands like Mercedes Benz and Paypal, sponsoring the
Los Angeles Lakers and using famous testimonials
such as Usher, Dani Álves and Luis Suárez, Hawkers
boasts more than four million followers on Facebook.
The Hawkers Fan Award gives fans the chance of
voting online for the two drivers who are nominated
after each event of the series for delivering especially
exciting performances on track.
After each vote, the winning driver and his team’s
crew are presented with pairs of Hawkers sunglasses.
In addition, the partnership between Hawkers
and the TCR International Series will be extended
to include joint marketing strategies, promotion
of each other’s brands through digital platforms
and competitions on social networks to give away
paddock passes for the TCR events.
