The first event of the TCR Driving
Experience was held at the
Salzburgring in the frame of the fifth
race meeting of the TCR International
Series. The first three participants of
this unique sporting driving class were
a Belgian lady and two men from
France and Switzerland who enjoyed
the experience of attending formation
lessons and being given valuable
advice from Leopard Racing drivers
Stefano Comini and Jean-Karl Vernay
(who later won the second race on the
Austrian track).
The weather conditions were not ideal
because of the rain, although this
contributed to making the course even
more challenging for the participants,
The TCR Driving Experience kicked off in Austria
who experienced driving in critical
grip conditions.
The day had begun with the
presentation of the TCR Driving
Experience clothing (including racing
overalls, gloves, balaclava, t-shirt and
cap). The participants then attended a
theory lesson about the basics of
sporting driving and safety that was
followed by a detailed explanation of
racing lines and the car’s reactions.
The next step was performing driving
exercises to understand the weight
shift and explore the car’s limits. After
practising on the simulator, the
participants were given the thrill of
the track as passengers of Comini and
Vernay in Volkswagen Golf Gti cars.
Finally, the icing on the cake was
taking the wheel, trying to put into
practice the tuition and advice
received.
The next classes of the TCR Driving
Experience will be within the TCR
International Series events at
Oschersleben (17/19 June), Sochi (1/3
July) and Buriram (26/28 August). For
