The return of
the Alfa Romeo
Giulietta TCR
The Alfa Romeo Giulietta TCR run
by Mulsanne Racing returned to
the TCR International Series at
the Salzburgring after missing
the Spa and Imola rounds while
the team concentrated on making
improvements to the car. In
addition, a second Giulietta made
its maiden appearance in Austria,
with Petr Fulín joining the team’s
regular driver Michela Cerruti.
During its absence, the team
concentrated on developing three
main areas – aerodynamics,
suspension and engine. The most
obvious change means the car
now boasts a new nose with a
new splitter and larger cooling
intakes, while significant
improvements were made to both
front and rear suspension and an
increase in engine power.
After some promising lap times
posted by Fulín in Practice and
Qualifying, the Czech driver was
eliminated in the incident at the
start of Race 1; Michela Cerruti
was able to score her first point
of the season when she finished
10th in Race 1, but this was not
a quite adequate reward for the
team’s efforts.
