The finale
has been postponed
until next year
The 2016 TCR Thailand title will only
be decided in… 2017. Racing Spirit,
the series promoter, has abided like
the whole country by the long period
of national mourning declared after
the tragic death of King Bhumibol the
Great. This entailed the cancellation
of all sporting events, including the
last round of the Thai Super Series
that was scheduled to take place at
Bangsaen on October 23.
The race meeting has now been re-
scheduled for February 26, 2017, still
at Bangsaen, where Vattana
Motorsport’s local hero Jack Lemvard
and Singha Motorsport Team
Thailand’s Carlo van Dam from the
Netherlands – both at the wheel of
SEAT León cars – will fight to be
crowned the first ever champion of
TCR Thailand.
While van Dam took the advantage in
the first part of the season, claiming
three race wins out of four, Lemvard
was able to overturn the situation
thanks to the fact that his rival did
not take part in the International
