There were others who also felt very happy
about their weekend in the Saxony-Anhalt
region: Tom Coronel relaunched his
campaign with a pair of second places at
the wheel of the Boutsen Ginion Racing
Honda Civic after two very solid races, and
Dominik Baumann also achieved a double
finish in P4 for Target Competition,
protecting Files’ back in both races and
bringing more solid points to the Italian
squad that is on the verge of securing the
Teams’ title.
Team WRT retained the second position in
the Teams’ standings despite a weekend that
left some regrets and a number of radiators
broken on the hard kerbs of the German
track. It was an unnoticed water leak from
the radiator that prevented Santiago Urrutia
from benefiting from the opportunity of
having qualified third in Race 1, as he had
to pit for repairs after the formation lap, but
the Uruguayan was an excellent fifth in
Race 2, giving the best result of the
weekend to an Audi RS 3 LMS car. Gianni
Morbidelli did the same in Race 1 for the
Volkswagen Golf GTI, also taking 5th, while
also worthy of note was the 8th place taken
by Zsolt Dávid Szabó in Race 1, as the young
Hungarian made his season debut driving
one of the M1RA Hyundai cars.
The TCR Europe series will resume at the
Circuit de Catalunya on September
20th/22nd.
