TCR Germany ran back-to-back events at
Zandvoort and the Nürburgring that
delivered two surprise winners. In the
Netherlands, Michelle Halder became
the first lady to win a race in the
championship and one week later World
Rally Championship star Thierry
Neuville made an impressive racing
debut in the Hyundai guest car as he
set pole position and dominated the
first race.
However, the driver who took the most
out of the consecutive weekends was
Max Hesse. The 18-year old scored his
first win at Zandvoort and then took
maximum points at the Nürburgring
where he was second behind Neuville –
who was not eligible to score points –
in Race 1 and was declared winner of a
shortened Race 2. That all meant he
closed the gap in the standings to Antti
Buri whose leading margin was reduced
to 22 points. Still in contention for the
title are the reigning champion Harald
Proczyk and Mike Halder who have
dropped 38 and 46 points behind Buri
respectively.
