The runner-up was Luca Ghiotto, also in his
first year at this level following his
experience in F.Abarth. The youngster from
Vicenza, also driving for Prema Powerteam,
made an immediate impact on ALPS,
winning five races and dominating the final
weekend in Imola where he achieved two
pole positions and won both races. He
ended the season with 210 points to
Fuoco’s 245. Ghiotto was also successful in
Eurocup, winning the race at Spa, and is
now eyeing a move to World Series Renault
3.5, having already taking part in winter
testing during the close season. Another
protagonist, again in Prema Powerteam’s
colours, was the Brazilian Bruno Bonifacio,
who came third overall with 145 points and,
while he may not have had the success he
deserved in the last four races, was always
there or thereabouts during the early part of
the season, winning three races and
achieving several podium finishes that
enabled him to stay in touch with Fuoco in
the drivers’ championship.
Fourth place, the highest achieved by a
non-Prema driver, when to Kevin Joerg. The
Swiss driver from the Jenzer Motorsport
team made constant progress over the
course of the season, attaining three third
places and accumulating 90 points. In fifth
place was Egor Orudzhev, an interesting
graduate of the Russian development
program, which is supported by SMP Bank.
