Motori Mecachrome e 500 cavalli
per la categoria di Coloni

Dai motori Zytek ai Mecachrome. La Euroseries 3000 si rifà il trucco, non solo modificando l'aerodinamica della Lola B02/50, ma cambiando i propulsori e aumentando la potenza che arriverà a 500 cavalli. Il motorista francese, che già rifornisce la GP2 Series e anche il GP Masters (la serie per gli ex F.1 oltre i 45 anni), ha preparato un V8 90° di 3400 cc con un peso di 123 chili appositamente per la categoria. Un motore di derivazione endurance la cui revisione potrà avvenire dopo 4000 chilometri. La centralina sarà della Marvel 8 della Magneti Marelli. Con questa importante novità, la Euroseries 3000 si pone come una delle categorie più potenti nel panorama delle corse per monoposto, preceduta solo dalla GP2 e dalla A1 Grand Prix. La Coloni Motorsport ha anche presentato il calendario 2007:

After the announcement in December of an aerodynamic restyling, the 2007 Formula 3000 has now also a new heart: a deal has been signed between Mecachrome and Coloni Motorsport for the engine supply of the Championship starting from this season. The French Engine Manufacturer, already engaged also in GP2 and Grand Prix Masters, has shown a big interest in the Series and has decided to invest its proved experience in realizing a specific 500 BHP engine for the F.3000, at which we can now think as the GP2 younger sister. This is a V8 90°, 3,4 liter engine with a quite moderate weight (123 Kg) and the chance to cover up to 4.000 Km between services. The control unit is a Magneti Marelli Marvel 8. Moreover, thanks to a big commitment by Mecachrome, the teams will not only have at their disposal a more powerful modern engine, but the costs will also remain unchanged.

A big enthusiasm and strong motivations have been shown by both the sides: Enzo Coloni, Coloni Motorsport President: “I would like to thank Mecachrome for the big attention given to us and for having trusted and invested in our Championship. We are really proud to have found such a prestigious partner which will allow F.3000 to become the most powerful preparatory category after GP2”.

Coloni Motorsport released the new calendar which is made of 16 races. Four rounds are scheduled to take place in Italy, as the remaining ones will bring the series around Europe.
