Mike Conway chiude la stagione

Mike Conway a sorpresa si è portato al comando della classifica finale del 4° turno dei test collettivi di Valencia che ha chiuso la stagione 2006 della GP2 Series. L'inglese del team ART, campione della F.3 britannica e vincitore di Macao, ha spinto forte nel pomeriggio, ma non è riuscito ad avvicinare il tempo della mattina registrato da Andreas Zuber. Conway infatti ha ottenuto 1'18"737 mentre l'austriaco era arrivato a 1'18"432. Rimane comunque ottimo il lavoro dell'inglese che ha riportato il team ART al comando nella GP2. Conway ha messo in ombra Michael Ammermuller, che con la squadra di Vasseur ha già firmato via Red Bull, apparso un po' in difficoltà a Valencia.

Clivio Piccione ha terminato il turno al secondo posto confermando il buon lavoro che sta svolgendo la Durango. La squadra veneta è infatti costantemente al top con qualsiasi pilota. Un buon segnale per il futuro. Dietro al pilota monegasco, la coppia della Arden composta da Bruno Senna e Luca Filippi, divisi da 25 millesimi. Bravo il brasiliano, rookie nella categoria, e anche Luca che sta raccogliendo i frutti della stagione 2006 in GP2. Come Javier Villa, che ha concluso in una posizione a lui prima sconosciuta: la quinta. Sesto un altro pilota spagnolo, Roldan Rodriguez, che con la Minardi Piquet sta compiendo ottimi progressi, poi Borja Garcia sempre su alti livelli e Giorgio Pantano. Mike Conway has given his chances of landing a plum GP2 series ride in 2007 a massive boost by finishing the final afternoon of 2006 testing at the top of the times. The Englishman's lap of 1:18.737 was enough to beat the Durango of Clivio Piccione into second place on the Monegasque driver's return to the Italian team with which he won the 2005 Sunday GP2 series race at the Nurburgring. Third and fourth in the times were the Arden pairing of Bruno Senna and Luca Filippi, with both men continuing their hugely impressive and quick showings of the winter months. Javier Villa completed one of his best two-day test sessions to date in fifth place, with Roldan Rodriguez sixth. The fastest laps of the entire test however were set this morning by Andreas Zuber. He and team-mate Timo Glock's pace in this final test of 2006 was a warning shot, if one was needed, of just how sincere they and the iSport team are in their intentions towards the 2007 titles.
